Graduate Assistantships and Tutoring Assistantships

The department offers Graduate Assistantships to graduate students, which provide tuition waivers and a stipend. Graduate Assistants perform a variety of duties including tutoring statistics and research methods; teaching assistance for statistics courses; supporting undergraduate and graduate program events and activities; and providing research assistance. Graduate Assistants work 10 hours per week during normal business hours at the DePaul University Lincoln Park campus. The Graduate Assistant work calendar follows the academic year calendar - autumn, winter and spring quarters - from early September until Thanksgiving and from early January until early June, with a one-week spring break in late March.

For additional information, please contact the Director of Sociology Graduate Studies.

In spring or early summer, the Sociology Graduate Studies Program invites applications for two (2) Graduate Assistant positions for the upcoming academic year. Links for the following documents will go live once the application process opens: GA Duties and Responsibilities and the Graduate Assistantship Application.  Benefits include, if you qualify, a waiver for approximately six graduate courses and a modest stipend. First year and second year graduate students can apply.

Please note that the deadline for applications will be posted as soon as the application is live. Please submit application electronically to sociology@depaul.edu, with subject line GA Assistantship Application, as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that a background in statistics, methods, and SPSS is required. If you have any questions, contact the Department of Sociology, at sociology@depaul.edu.
