3. Apply for degree conferral for the quarter in which you anticipate completing your requirements. Apply via Campus Connect (Academic Progress > Apply for Graduation). • November (autumn) October 1st
  • March (winter) January 15th
  • June (spring) February 1st

Submitting an online application does not guarantee the conferral (granting) of a degree from DePaul University.  Degree requirements are reviewed at the end of the expected completion term you indicate. If you meet all requirements, your degree will be conferred within 30 days of the end of the term. Diplomas are mailed (to graduates without financial holds) generally within 45-60 days after the end of the term.

* August conferral applicants who wish to participate in the June commencement ceremony must apply for degree conferral, RSVP for the ceremony and order their cap & gown by the first of May.

4. The College Office will contact students with information regarding cap and gown ordering. There is no formal RSVP to the ceremony.

5. Review additional commencement information online via the university commencement website.

Graduation With Distinction

Distinction is conferred upon an SPS student who has maintained a 3.75 cumulative grade point average or higher.

Commencement

The graduation ceremony is symbolic. It is held in June of each year. Students who confer their degrees from the fall quarter through the summer quarter are eligible to participate in that year's June commencement ceremony. June and August degree audits occur after the ceremony, therefore graduation with distinction may not be announced at the ceremony, but will appear on the transcript and diploma. If you cancel or are ineligible to graduate, you must reapply.

Commencement Kick-Off

Students can pick up your cap and gown reservations at Commencement Kick-Off held the second Monday and Tuesday of the month in June, on the Lincoln Park Campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You must pick up your cap and gown on campus prior to commencement. If you will be unable to pick up your cap and gown, you may send a designee with a letter indicating your permission. Please include your name and student ID number.
