Biological Science

General Concentration

This concentration is available to all Biology majors who want an broad degree in Biology without a specific concentration.  It is also available for students who started off in another concentration and changed their mind about the area in which they would like to specialize.  Lastly, this Concentration can provide a means by which students can design their own areas of specialization.

             

Required Biology Courses (all majors):

BIO 101 General Bio I

BIO 102 General Bio II

BIO 103 General Bio III

BIO 260 Genetics

 

Allied Field Courses:

General Chemistry (CHE 111-115)

One year of General Physics

Organic Chemistry (CHE 171-175)

One year of Calculus

One course in Statistics (BIO 305 or ENV 260)

 

Three of the Following Required Courses:

Bio 210 - Microbiology

Bio 215 - Ecology

Bio 235 - Evolution

Bio 250 - Cell Biology

Bio 309 - Plant Physiology

Bio 310 - Vertebrate Physiology

Bio 360 - Molecular Biology

 

Five Additional Biology Electives (2 must have lab):

You can choose any five of the currently approved Electives for Biology Majors.
