Wednesday, February 17, 2010. 5:45 p.m. Blueprint for Neighborhood Success: An Excursion to Discuss the Wicker Park Master Plan .  Join us in the neighborhood known for its culture and arts to discuss the recent unveiling of the much anticipated Master Plan for Wicker Park.  Come and enjoy a roundtable discussion about the future of this vibrant and exciting neighborhood.  Speakers include Jamie Simone of the Wicker Park Chamber of Commerce, Matt Cunningham of Civic Economics, and Mark de la Vergne of Land Strategies.  Event will take place at the Wicker Park/Bucktown Library, located at 1701 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010. 5 p.m. "Tuesdays at APA: Seminar". Joe Schwieterman and Alan Mamoser share how a century of visionary planning for metropolitan Chicago has shaped our region's character and, afterwards, have a book signing for "Beyond Burnham: An Illustrated History of Planning for the Chicago Region." Thursday, February 25, 2010. "Planning for a Sustainable Future: Hot Topics and Cool Examples". Jointly sponsored with APA, this technical workshop will cover planning for sustainability, including both energy and water, as well as how to pay for it.  DePaul Loop Campus, 14 E. Thursday, March 11th, 2010. "Community Look". Join Professor Bob Rotenberg at this interactive seminar for a discussion about the history and current meaning of "community look" in the suburbs. Is it just a matter of signage, color and materials, or is it a master plan? With Bob's guidance as an urban anthropologist, we will explore the many sides of this design value through municipal staff experiences. DePaul Loop Campus, 243 S. Thursday, March 17th, 2010. 5:00 p.m.  High-Speed Rail and the Chicago Hub-Past, Present, and Future. The American Planning Association's Chicago Chapter in conjunction with the Chaddick Institute is pleased to present a colloquium on the state of high-speed rail in the U.S. with an emphasis on the Chicago hub. Speaker for the event is Rick Harnish, Executive Director of the Midwest High-Speed Rail Association. Event will be held at 243 S.Wabash, Rm 924.
