The Department of International Studies uses an interdisciplinary framework to explore the historical and contemporary dimensions of complex global isssues. Students in this area develop skills in research and analysis and cultivate a critical awareness of the relationships of power and inequality that shape conflict and development at local and global scales.

We are excited to announce that two new faculty will be joining the department this fall: Brendan McQuade, a specialist in critical security studies and surveillance studies, and Dr. Carolyn Breitbach, a geographer with a focus on environmental and development issues.
