Teaching and Research Interests

Mahmoud Saeed teaches intermediate and advanced Arabic langauge courses, as well as Arab Culture and Iraqi Political History. He was born in Mousel, Iraq, where he lived until 1985. In 2007 his novel/memoir I am the One Who Saw, (أنا الذي راء) was translated into English and published with the title Saddam City. While he writes all maunscripts in Arabic, three of his most dynamic novels and memoirs have been translated into English along with several short stories. His most recent story, "Title", which was written for and featured in Freedom: Short Stories Celebrating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was published by Amnesty International in 2009.
