Financial Assistance

There are several forms of financial assistance offered to DePaul Nursing students. Federal Advanced Nursing Education Traineeships are available for full-time graduate nurse practitioner and first-year nurse anesthetist students. The department also distributes grant and donor funded scholarships based on need. For the first time in 2008-2009, graduate students will be eligible for teaching assistantships during the last year of their program. Students are also eligible for the Federal Student Loan program, State Public Health Scholarships, and Federal Public Health Service Loan Payback programs, to name a few!

   FEDERAL ASSISTANCE

Graduate students are eligible for subsidized and unsubsidized student loans as well as private loans for tuition, fees, books, and living expenses while a student. Completion of the Free Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for all forms of federal assistance including student loans, scholarships and traineeships. Once completed and submited, a copy of the report must accompany all applications. A renewal form is required each year. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information. 

   STATE ASSISTANCE

Graduate students are now eligible for the State of Illinois Nursing Education Scholarship Program. Please check the Illinois Center for Nursing  website for more information.

   DEPARTMENT ASSISTANCE

Students interested in Advanced Nursing Education Traineeships or other funds distributed through the department for nursing students should fill out the Application for Tuition Assistance Form. This form must be correctly filled out and submitted by August 1st of each year in order for the student to be considered. A FAFSA report must be attached to the form when it is submitted. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

   OTHER FORMS OF ASSISTANCE

   National Health Service Corps:  The NHSC has a number of exciting opportunities available for health professions students. Our programs offer dedicated individuals the chance to make a real difference in a community. And a rewarding and challenging career in primary health care is the greatest benefit of all!

The Paul & Saisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans: The program provides scholarships of up to 2 years are available to legal residents (green card), naturalized citizens, or children of 2 naturalized citizen parents for graduate study providing up to $20,000 maintainence and half tuition.
