The Program in Peace, Conflict Resolution and Social Justice Studies offers an academic minor. To fulfill the requirements for this minor, students must successfully complete 28 credit hours of coursework, including the following three PAX courses, plus four electives distributed as described below. Any of these courses may also count for a major in another field or for Liberal Studies Program, as well as for this minor.
REQUIREMENTS:
PAX 200: Perspectives to Peace, Conflict Resolution, and Social Justice (4 credit hours)—this is a Junior Year Experiential Learning course.
PAX 250: Workshops on nonviolent approaches to conflict resolution, social change, activism (2 credit hours each). Students must do 2 of these for a total of 4 credit hours.
PAX 392 Internship (4 credit hours)
FOUR electives (for a total of 16 credit hours). At least two of these must be in two different elective areas:
1. Peacemaking and International Relations
2. Interpersonal Violence and Conflict Resolution
3. Structural Violence and Social Justice
Electives may also include PAX 210, PAX 220, PAX 230, or another pair of PAX 250 workshops. Other courses may be approved on an individual basis for the minor.
