Chaddick Research and Community Fellows
We are pleased to share with you our inaugural Chaddick Fellows, all of whom have added to the intellectual life at our institute and mentored graduate students. These talented individuals began their work as fellows in March 2022.
Derick Anderson
Derick is an urban research specialist who explores how community is developed, maintained, and destroyed in affordable and public housing developments in North America. He is a PhD student in Urban Planning and Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago and previously worked in housing counseling and managed community development programs for a decade in Chicago. Derick has an MPA from DePaul University and was a 2012 Chaddick Scholar.
Rachael Aziz
Rachael is a designer and AICP-certified planner specializing in place-based brand identities and experiential marketing campaigns. She is co-founder, with Marisa Schulz, of the Evanston-based All Together, whose clients include municipal governments, community development organizations, and civic organizations. She holds an MA in Sustainable Urban Development from DePaul.
Brandon Bordenkircher
Brandon is the CEO of 12 Tone Matrix LLC and was the inaugural recipient of the Chaddick Institute's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2020. He formerly served as Deputy Program Director at AirBnb and has written several op-eds and publications on technology, policy, and politics. Brandon received his Master of Public Administration from DePaul.

Matthew Jacques
Post Graduate Fellow, and Alumni Program Advisor
Matthew brings to Chaddick several years of business development, communications and entrepreneurial experience. After earning a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he studied acting in New York and launched and managed multiple B2C businesses, focusing on improving firms' social benefits and community outreach. Matthew completed his Master's in Public Administration at DePaul's School of Public Service. He is passionate about strengthening the dialogue between citizens and government, infrastructure planning, social service delivery, and community development.
Jessica Kupets
Postgraduate Fellow
Jessica brings to Chaddick skills in social media marketing, legislative research, program management, and advocacy work. While completing a Bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas, she spent a semester as an advocacy intern for the Epilepsy Foundation in Washington D.C., where she focused on federal and state regulatory issues affecting people with epilepsy and seizure disorders. Jessica completed her Master of Public Policy at DePaul's School of Public Service. She is passionate about eliminating health disparities, strengthening private-public sector collaboration in healthcare delivery systems, sustainable development, and improving access to quality healthcare for all people.
Mallory Livingston
Postgraduate Fellow
Mallory brings to Chaddick several years of research, program development, and fundraising experience. Although a Chicago native, she has spent much of the last decade on the East Coast; after earning a Bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Maine, she worked at an international think tank in Boston, with a focus on researching and improving the social impact of businesses and non-governmental agencies. Two years ago, Mallory returned to Chicago, where she joined the American Heart Association’s corporate development team. Mallory is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy at DePaul’s School of Public Service, and she is passionate about global development and urban design.
Riley O'Neil
Postgraduate Fellow
Riley is an alum of DePaul University's Sustainable Urban Development program and a passionate advocate for active transportation. A Chaddick Scholar, Riley has participated in numerous studies with the Institute on topics including bicycle safety and shared use mobility. He is co-author and was lead data collector for the Chaddick Institute's study,
Have App Will Travel: Comparing the Price and Speed of Fifty CTA and UberPool Trips in Chicago, which received front-page coverage in the
Chicago Tribune. His work has also appeared in the
Illinois Municipal Policy Journal. He is presently working as Bike Parking Program Manager for the Chicago Department of Transportation.
