SSCIP Conference Venue Information

With the exception of the Saturday Night Conference Dinner, all conference activities will take place on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus. As the DePaul website notes: DePaul's Lincoln Park campus is the oldest, largest and most active of the university's five campuses, located in the heart of Chicago's historic Lincoln Park neighborhood. This campus offers a traditional university environment with about 3,000 students living in DePaul's 11 residence halls and apartments. The Lincoln Park Campus is home to the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, The College of Science and Health, the College of Education, The School of Music, The Theater School and the John T. Richardson Library.

Getting to DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus

Public Transportation

CTA Trains

Three rapid transit train lines service the Lincoln Park area and DePaul's Lincoln Park campus. Exit at the Fullerton station. After coming down the steps, turn left (west) to Sheffield Avenue. These are the train lines servicing the Lincoln Park campus:
Howard and 95th/Dan Ryan (Red)
Linden (Evanston)/Loop (Purple)
Kimball/Loop (Brown)
You may transfer to these lines from all other train lines in most downtown stations. From the conference hotel, take the CTA Red Line one stop North (towards Howard) to Fullerton Station.


Bus routes interconnect throughout the city. Several buses stop very near the Lincoln Park campus. All routes are subject to change by the CTA. You may reach the CTA at 312-836-7000 or 1-800-972-7000 or TDD (hearing impaired) 312-836-4949. For more information, visit the Chicago Transit Authority.

Driving Directions

From the north and northwest
From the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94) exit at Fullerton Avenue and turn left (east.) The Lincoln Park campus is about two miles from the expressway on Fullerton Avenue and Sheffield Avenue.

From the west
From the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), turn onto the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94) heading toward Wisconsin. From the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94) exit at Fullerton Avenue and turn right (east.) The Lincoln Park campus is about two miles from the expressway on Fullerton Avenue and Sheffield Avenue.

From the south
From the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/I-94) continue as the expressway becomes the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94). Exit at Fullerton Avenue and turn right (east.) The Lincoln Park campus is about two miles from the expressway on Fullerton Avenue and Sheffield Avenue.

From Lake Shore Drive (north or south)
Exit Lake Shore Drive at Fullerton Avenue. Head west for about three miles. The Lincoln Park campus is located on Fullerton Avenue and Sheffield Avenue.

Visitor Parking

Visitors parking is available in the Sheffield Parking Garage located at 2331 N. Sheffield or the Clifton Parking Deck located at 2330 N. Clifton. The DePaul rate will be given if a validated ticket is presented to the attendant. Parking validation machines are located throughout campus including School of Music, Student Center 1st floor, SAC, Commons, and the Richardson Library.

Campus Map

A campus map will be provided in your information packet, and signs will be placed on campus directing you to the registration location and conference venues. View Lincoln Park Campus map online.  While not noted on the map, the CTA Fullerton Station is located on Fullerton Avenue just east of Sheffield Avenue and adjacent to the DePaul University Art Museum.

Event Location

All conference activities will take place in the Schmitt Academic Center, 2320 N Kenmore Ave., on DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus. The Schmitt Academic Center is often abbreviated and referred to as SAC at DePaul. Friday and Sunday's events will be in and around Room 161 and Saturday's paper sessions will be in SAC 270 and 280.​

Coffee Options

Coffee and tea will be provided throughout the conference. There are other options as well. There are several coffee shops on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus including the ground floor of the Student Center, Schmidt Academic Center, and McGowan South. There are also coffee shops near campus.

Restaurant Options

These eateries are all a very easy and a short (less than ten minute) walk from the conference.

Café Floriole - 1220 W. Webster Ave.
This restaurant focuses on local, seasonal produce and has sandwiches, salads, quiches, an array of delicious baked goods, and coffees and tea. Free wifi.

Jam ‘n’ Honey - 958 W. Webster Ave.
Casual, local place with good sandwiches and breakfast all day. Cash only.

Homeslice -  938 W. Webster Ave.
Pizza, salads, calzones- specializing in creative topping combinations- gluten free and cheese free pizza options available.

Sal’s Deli - 1013 W. Webster Ave.
Sal’s is a very popular local deli with good vegetarian and gluten free sandwich options.

Local Option- 1102 W. Webster Ave.
If you want a beer or a cocktail at lunch, this is your place. Cajun inspired cuisine in a very casual bar atmosphere with lots of beers on tap.

Other options for bars serving food for lunch are McGee’s Tavern & Grille (950 W. Webster) and Kelly’s Pub (949 W. Webster).

Whole Foods Grocery- 959 W. Fullerton Ave.
Whole Foods is a full service grocery store with an emphasis on natural and organic foods.

CVS Pharmacy- 2414 N. Lincoln Ave. (entrance off of Fullerton between DePaul and Lincoln)
CVS has a full line of health and beauty items, stationary supplies, a small convenience store with packaged snacks and bottled beverages, and a pharmacy if you need it.​
