College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences > Academics > Criminology > About > Program Highlights
The faculty provides a wealth of academic and professional knowledge regarding the criminal legal system. They are committed to the fundamentals of social justice and criminal justice reform and share their expertise with the public, and the academic community.
Firmly rooted in DePaul's Catholic, Vincentian and Urban commitments to high quality academic and professional preparation within a context of social justice, the program provides students with hands-on experience through community-based learning, internships, filed trips, and other opportunities for learning outside the classroom.
In partnership with the Community Service Studies Program and Steans Center for Community-based Service learning, DePaul faculty and students collaborate with students on the inside of the prison system to learn from each other by attending classes at Stateville Correctional Center or Cook County Jail.
