The Catholic Learning Community is a collaboration between Catholic Campus Ministry and the Department of Catholic Studies. It is an opportunity for students to explore and deepen their faith while taking common courses and participating in activities outside the classroom. The program is designed for students who could envision themselves taking an active role in the life of their parish during and after their time at DePaul.
During the Winter and Spring Quarters a cohort of ten students take part in events run by Catholic Campus Ministry and the Department of Catholic Studies. They take a class together in the Winter Quarter for which they receive a scholarship. The students meet and have discussions where they seek to integrate their life experience with their academic experience through theological reflection and faith sharing. The Department is currently at work with DePaul’s administration to expand the Catholic Learning Community to be a four-year program where students apply as part of their admission to DePaul. This expansion would include scholarship money, a chance to live in a dorm together, and study abroad opportunities.
