History Department Internship Awards

McGowan Family Endowed Fund for Experiential Learning

Each year, the McGowan Family Endowed Fund for Experiential Learning offers financial assistance to an eligible history student who is engaged in an internship. One scholarship is awarded annually. Priority is given to a student who is seeking support for an unpaid internship, but students with paid internships may apply. The internship need not be associated with the historical profession, but only History majors, History minors, or History M.A. students may apply for the award.

Community- and Project-Based Learning (CPBL) Internship Scholarship

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences' Community- and Project-Based Learning (CPBL) Internship Scholarship is awarded quarterly to students working on a project for an internship at a non-profit, non-governmental, or governmental organization. Students in LAS undergraduate (including double majors and minors) and Master's programs who meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply!

If you would like advice on appropriate internship locations, placements, etc., please contact Professor Amy Tyson, Director of Internships for the History Department (ATYSON2@depaul.edu).

Internships provide invaluable work experience and will give you an important advantage in your job search. Your internship experience can also earn you academic credit.

Undergraduate majors in History or Museum Studies who have secured a related public history internship may enroll in the four-credit, online Public History Internship course (HST 392). Email Professor Amy Tyson if you would like to enroll.
