Andrea Craft is a doctoral candidate in Urban Planning & Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Their current research examines the potential for governmental transparency - through community engagement, disclosure policies and the open data movement - to advance equitable economic development and to build accountability to the public.
Andrea is a graduate assistant at UIC's Urban Data Visualization Lab, as well as a GIS mentor for Chicago Public School teachers through Northwestern University's Spatial Intelligence and Learning Center. Prior to academia, Andrea worked for a Chicago-based economic development consulting firm, and they have years of experience in planning and community development through working in government, non-profits, and the private sector.
