A non-degree graduate student is one who has a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and wishes to take at least one graduate course for one or more of the reasons listed below. Students who wish to take an undergraduate course as a non-degree student must apply as an undergraduate.
To apply for admission, choose the appropriate application at depaul.edu/apply.
Most LAS graduate programs allow students to take courses as non-degree students.

Minimum requirements to be admitted as a non-degree graduate student:- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university
- Academic achievement in undergraduate work indicating a capacity to succeed in graduate course work (minimum 2.50/4.00 cumulative GPA)
- Approval by the director of graduate admission

- On page 4 of the application under "Program Choice" select "College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences"
- In the alphabetical list choose "Non-Degree Personal Interest"

Once all documents are received, applicants can expect to receive a decision within three business days.
Your first step is to log into your application portal and complete the "Intent to Enroll" form. Submitting this form notifies the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences that you intend to enroll at DePaul for the quarter stated in your offer of admission letter. When we receive your Intent to Enroll, your student record will be activated. After we process your form, you will receive an email acknowledging your intent to enroll.
If your program requires additional steps, please follow the instructions on your offer of admission letter.
Academic advising and course selection for non-degree seeking graduate students is a collaborative effort between the assistant director of the LAS Graduate Student Services Office and graduate program directors. Permission is required to register for specific courses at the graduate level. Please contact the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Graduate Student Services Office at lasgraduateoffice@depaul.edu or (773) 325-4008 for information regarding course registration. Non-degree graduate students are charged at the regular graduate tuition rate. Click here for the current tuition rate. Financial aid is not available to non-degree students.
