The following list of organizations and resources offer support, advocacy, education, and more for those who identify as queer, trans, gender nonconforming, lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex, and more.
DePaul LBGTQA Student Services and Resources
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, Asexual and Ally (LGBTQA) Student Center at DePaul University exists to promote, foster and support a campus environment that is inclusive of people from all sexualities and gender identities. This mission is achieved through a range of services, educational programs and community building events that reflect the needs and interests of the diverse LGBTQA communities at DePaul.
Center on Halsted
Programs range from volleyball, dance performances and cooking classes to rapid HIV testing, group therapy and vocational training. We partner regularly with other organizations and groups from across Chicago and the nation to provide additional programming for the community.
AIDS Foundation of Chicago
Takes a leadership role in the following services for those with HIV: Housing for those of low-income, provides medical and social services, has access to emergency homelessness prevention funds, and is up to date on all things policy.
Affinity Community Services
Works on behalf of Black LGBTQ communities, queer youth, and allies to identify emergent needs, create safe spaces, develop leaders and bridge communities through collective analysis and action for social justice, freedom, and human rights.
Broadway Youth Center
BYC offers homeless youth a safe place to access basic needs, such as food, hygiene supplies, clothing, laundry, and showers. Youth are also able to access a full range of free services and programs ranging from HIV/STI testing and treatment, acute health care services, GED classes, case management, counseling services and social and support groups.
Chicago House
Specializes in the following resources for LGBTQ people to make connections with for support: Legal, benefits, food banks, clothing, hotlines, HIV case management, housing and vision.
The Crib
Provides housing, health care, and human connection to members of the LGBTQ community struggling with poverty or homelessness. They address people’s immediate physical and emotional needs while affirming their sense of humanity. Associated with Night Ministry.
Equality Illinois
They lobby on behalf of LGBTQ individuals, educate those uninformed of LGBTQ issues, work to elect candidates that stand up for LGBTQ citizens, and overall protect the legal rights of marginalized people.
Gender Just
Formed as a place for those marginalized within traditional LGBTQ communities, namely for people of color, youth, trans people, immigrants, people living with disabilities and others who have not felt mainstream represented their interests. Resource equity and education are at the center of their work.

Lambda Legal Illinois
Works to provide education on police and criminal justice, and race and income, housing, legal services, HIV testing, health care, family and individual counseling, services in Spanish, and case work for LGBTQ people on the margins.
Project Fierce
Grassroots efforts to support and address queer homeless youth.
Test Positive Aware Network
Grassroots resource for those struggling with an HIV diagnosis. Provides all forms of counseling and resources for affordable healthcare.
Transformative Justice Law Project
TJLP is a group of radical activists, social workers, and organizers who provide support, advocacy, and free, holistic advocacy and criminal legal services to poor and street-based transgender people in Illinois. Composed of collective members, folks who receive services, attorneys, interns, volunteers, and advisers.
