Financial Aid

 Financial Aid for U.S. Residents

Financial aid for graduate students comes in many forms: federal student loans, alternative loans, scholarships and assistantships. All federal student loans and some need-based federal scholarships and institutional awards require completion of the FAFSA.

Alternative loans, academic scholarships and assistantships have separate application procedures and generally do not require the completion of a FAFSA.

For more information on applying for graduate financial aid at DePaul visit the Financial Aid: New Graduate Student website or call 312.362.8610 (toll free 1.800.4DEPAUL) for financial aid information.

Financial Aid for International Students

International students who wish to receive federal financial aid must meet federally regulated citizenship requirements; this list is available at DePaul’s Financial Aid: International Students website. However, students who are ineligible for federal financial aid due to citizenship status may be eligible to apply for alternative loan options, such as a private educational loan to assist with expenses. These loans are based on income, credit rating, and ability to repay the loan. Most Private Loan programs require that non-citizens obtain a co-signer who is a citizen or permanent resident.

DePaul Extension Plan for Employer Reimbursement

The DePaul Extension Plan for Employer Reimbursement (DePEPER) is an optional program for students receiving tuition reimbursement from their employers and is administered through the Student Accounts Office. DePEPER allows the students covered by such an employer plan to receive an extension of their tuition payment due date until Grade Reports are mailed, since many employer reimbursement plans are awarded according to grades received.

Instructions:

  1. Do not submit the DePEPER Plan application form until you receive confirmation of your acceptance in the MALS Program
  2. The DePEPER Plan requires its own $50 non-refundable application fee. You can submit a check made payable to DePaul University along with your DePEPER application, or you can complete the payment option on the DePEPER application if you prefer to use a credit card.
  3. Submit the completed DePEPER application with its application fee to the Institute for Professional Development office.

ISD Partial Tuition Assistance Award

A limited number of partial tuition awards are available to students in the Interdisciplinary Self-Designed Program. These are competitive awards based on economic need and academic achievement. The amount of the award will vary depending upon need and course load. Students may receive a maximum of one credit hour of tuition assistance per course in each of the three academic quarters, but may only apply for one quarter at a time. The award will be applied directly to the student account for the reduction of your tuition charges. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required in order to apply for this award.
