This interdisciplinary department cultivates critical thinking on gender, sexuality, language, race, ethnicity, class, religion and indigeneity, and it emphasizes community engagement and social justice pedagogies and scholarship. Our programs equip students with much needed cultural competences that will prepare them well for leadership positions in both the public and private sectors and/or for work in graduate education.
