Jennifer Whitelaw's teaching philosophy is that students learn when they are actively involved.  Therefore, she designs every class period in such a way that students are engaged in both communicative activities and cultural discussions.  Jennifer also incorporates her experiences in Spain, Mexico, and Nicaragua into her courses so that the language and culture come alive in her classroom. It is her goal to integrate language proficiency and cultural understanding in order to prepare students to play a role in our multicultural society.
In addition to teaching Spanish, Jennifer also serves on the LAS Senate at DePaul.  In this capacity, she represents her colleagues in LAS and also works to promote the importance of the liberal arts.
