This position will fund 24 hours of academic credit (2 courses per quarter for 3 quarters) for the 2025-2026 academic year and will provide an annual stipend of $8,000 (contingent on funding). In addition, DePaul University offers students health insurance. There is ONE assistantship opportunity in this category this academic year.

Take Back the Halls: Ending Violence in Relationships and Schools (TBTH) is a teen dating violence prevention and community activism program designed to prevent relationship violence among teens. The Graduate Assistant will oversee DePaul interns who meet with high school student participants weekly in area high schools throughout the school year. The graduate assistant also will work with the program co-directors to run the day-to-day operations of TBTH. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment and training of DePaul undergraduate students to participate in the program, development and management of curricular materials, supervision of undergraduate interns, outreach with schools and communities, facilitation of TBTH in one high school.

Graduate Assistants are assigned to a variety of duties within the WGS department and are expected to work an average of 15-20 hours per week during the academic year.

Duties Include: 
Under the supervision of Dr. Beth Catlett, co-facilitate weekly healthy relationships curriculum in CPS middle and/or high schools. This includes: 

• Presenting the curriculum in a classroom setting
• Leading group discussion
• Leading exercises and role play

Serve as Team Lead by: 

• Leading the weekly meetings at DePaul for reflection and debriefing 
• Leading planning meetings to review goals and objectives, and assignments
• Leading practice and preparation sessions
• Preparing materials, goal folders, session guides, and supplies
• Reporting any personnel concerns or other issues to the Executive Director
• Administrative duties as assigned 

Position Hours and Duration:
The graduate assistant will be required to commit to approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year. It is important to note that TBTH runs on the Chicago Public Schools calendar, so the graduate assistant likely will be asked to work even during times when DePaul is between quarters (i.e., between Thanksgiving and Christmas break). It is also important to note that the graduate assistant must be available to work – often in the Women’s and Gender Studies offices – during the day.

The responsibilities for this assistantship:

(a) maintain and further develop an annotated bibliography of works on feminist pedagogy and other related pedagogical approaches connected with social change, with a particular focus on transnational feminist pedagogy (2025-2026);
(b) organize and facilitate resource and skill sharing with the Feminist Pedagogy group of transnational feminist scholars, maintain and develop a site that holds shared syllabi, classroom exercises, resources, and more;
(c) plan and organize a speaker series, including workshops and brown bag lunches around feminist pedagogy;
(d) continue to develop the feminist pedagogy project with the group of WGS community college professors and scholars, including organizing an event for graduate students interested in teaching in community colleges, as well as developing curricular connections between WGS community colleges and WGS curriculum for undergraduate students interested in transferring to DePaul.

Under supervision of Dr. Sanjukta Mukherjee and Dr. Ann Russo, the responsibilities for this assistantship will build on the project:
(a) continue to research and refine an annotated bibliography of works on feminist pedagogy and other related pedagogical approaches connected with social change, with a particular focus on transnational feminist pedagogy;
(b) continue to develop, organize, and facilitate the google group of transnational feminist scholars interested in meeting and sharing feminist pedagogy practices;
(c) plan and organize speaker series, workshops and brown bag lunches around feminist pedagogy;
(d) continue to build relationships with the community college professors and scholars, including organizing an event for graduate students interested in teaching in community colleges.

Position Hours and Duration: Graduate Assistants for this project are required to commit to approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year to fulfill these responsibilities. They must be available to work sometimes in the evenings and sometimes on weekends if there are any events organized at that time.
