Graduate Assistantship

​​​​​​​​​​​Graduate Assistant Position for MA Students in Department of Women’s and Gender Studies 2026-2027


ONE Graduate Assistant (GA) position is currently available for students in the MA Program in Women’s and Gender Studies for the academic year 2026-2027. Please note that we are always working to develop more opportunities and there is a possibility that other graduate assistantship positions may become available in a few weeks. Please stay in touch and inquire after them if you are interested.

If/when there are multiple positions available, you are welcome to apply for more than one position. You must submit separate application letters for each position, but your resume and reflective essay can be submitted once for multiple positions.

For priority consideration for these GA Positions, applicants must submit materials by February 28, 2026, which is also the priority deadline for admission into our graduate program. Please submit the GA materials along with your other required admission documents when you apply online. Application Process: 
(1) In order to be considered for the GA position please submit the following documents:

  • ​​​​​A letter of application that answers the following questions: Why are you interested in this position? What are the skills, background knowledge, and experience that you would bring to the position? How is this position related to your broader goals within the MA Program?
  • A resume that includes the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of 2 individuals who could speak to your skills and abilities applicable to this position. If you intend for the same referees who are writing your letters of recommendation for admission into our MA program to be referees for the GA position please advise them to address your qualifications for this position in their admission letter
  • A short essay response to the following questions:
    • ​​What have been your experiences working in service and/or activist or educational groups committed to social or gender justice? What are some of the challenges and triumphs you have experienced?
    • In your experience of groups or organizations, what are the best ways to build a group that is inclusive and affirming of different perspectives, ideas and identities?
    • In your experience, how have you approached disagreements and/or conflicts within a group, and what have you learned in the process? Give an example.

​​(2) Applications are due by February 28, 2026.

(3) Review of applications will begin after the February 28th deadline with decisions made by March 28, 2026.

​(4) Applicants who are offered the GA positions along with admission are requested to let us know as soon as possible but latest by April 4, 2026 if you are going to accept the position.
