Scholarship:

Dr. Mockaitis has written numerous books and articles on military history and violent extremism, including British Counterinsurgency, 1919-1960 (Macmillan, 1990; winner of th Templar Medal for the best book on British Military History), The New Terrorism: Myths and Reality (Prager, 2007; paperback edition, Stanford, 2008), Violent Extremists: Understanding the Domestic and International Terrorist Threat (Praeger, 2019), and Conventional and Unconventional War: A History of Modern Conflict (Praeger, 2017; paperback edition, Bloomsbury, 2024). His current project is a book on the conflict in South Arabia, 1963 to 1967.

Teaching: 

Prof. Mockaitis offers courses on British, European, and world history. He also teaches in the Honors and Liberal Studies programs.
