Admission Requirements

For fall 2024, MPH/MBA applications may only be submitted via SOPHAS.  SOPHAS is the online, centralized application service for public health graduate programs nationwide.  We are currently reviewing applications to start the MPH/MBA program in fall 2024. The priority application deadline is March 1, 2024.  Visit the SOPHAS Applicant Help Center for detailed application instructions.  There is no supplemental application through DePaul's website- you can only apply via SOPHAS.*

Application materials will be forwarded to the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business for review.

To apply, prospective students must submit the following:

  • A completed online application via SOPHAS.
  • Official transcripts from all degree-granting institutions attended; a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
  • Essay detailing your business interests and professional goals.
  • Responses to the following MPH-specific prompts: your previous applied public health experience; your reasons for seeking an MPH degree in community health practice; your reasons for seeking an MPH degree from DePaul; where you see yourself professionally in 5 years and the type of work you will be doing; and what is unique about you that the admissions committee should know.
  • Two letters of recommendation attesting to your ability to succeed in graduate school, preferably from current or previous employers.
  • A professional résumé or curriculum vitae that summarizes your work experience and educational background.
  • GMAT or GRE scores are optional for the MBA application for the fall 2024 cycle; GRE scores are not required for the MPH program for any cycle
  • If your undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, please submit a short explanatory statement addressing your GPA and how you plan to be successful in a graduate-level dual degree program.
  • Applicants may be asked to provide supplemental materials or to come in for an interview should the admission committee require it.

International Admission

English Proficiency

International student applicants must submit proof of English language proficiency in order to be reviewed for admission. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences accepts scores from the TOEFL, the IELTS and the Duolingo English Test (DET) as proof of English proficiency. Students who have previously earned an undergraduate or graduate degree in a country where the official native language is recognized as English may be exempt from the English language proficiency requirement.

To be considered English language proficient, the Liberal Arts and Social Sciences requires a score of at least 80 on the iBT TOEFL with a minimum score of 17 on each section, or at least 6.5 on the IELTS or at least 110 on the DET.

Applicants whose English language proficiency scores are below the stated minimums but who otherwise meet all admission requirements may be granted conditional admission until they demonstrate English proficiency by completing DePaul's English Language Academy program. Requirements for conditional admission are posted on the International Admission website.
