General Information

January 2017 calendar
CWCIT reviews fellowship applications once a year in early January and is now accepting applications for the 2018-19 academic year. The deadline to apply is January 1, 2017.

DePaul University's academic year usually starts in early September after Labor Day and ends in early June. The duration of the fellowship is flexible—from one to nine months—depending on the availability of the scholar.

CWCIT provides a monthly stipend, as well as office space, equipment, supplies, administrative support, and library access. Visiting fellows are, however, responsible for their own housing costs.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Research focused on some aspect of Catholicism in the "global South"—Asia, Africa, Latin America
  • Professional proficiency in English (written & spoken)

Strong preference is given to scholars based in the global South who generally do not have the same access to research resources as do scholars based in the global North.

Application Process for the 2018-19 Academic Year

To apply, please e-mail the following information to CWCIT Director William T. Cavanaugh no later than JANUARY 1, 2017:

  • Current CV
  • Research project proposal
  • Names & contact information of 1-2 references

CWCIT will inform applicants of its decision by early March 2017.
