Gabriela Pena

​​Gabriela Peña is a Research Specialist in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago. In her role, she assists in conducting mixed-methods research and implementing projects related to targeted violence prevention, with a focus on the implementation of behavioral threat assessment and management teams. She is a Certified Master Trainer in threat assessment and management through the National Threat Evaluation and Reporting Program within the Department of Homeland Security, and serves as the Communications Chair for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals' Great Lakes Chapter. 

She received both her bachelors and Master of Public Health from the UIC School of Public Health. In her previous roles, Gabriela provided community engagement expertise to researchers at UIC and co-led UIC Partnerships for Antiracist Campus Transformation within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Engagement. 

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, strength training, and spending time with family and friends.
