I have a doctorate from DePaul University, a master's degree from Northwestern University, a master's degree from Lewis University, and a bachelor's degree from The University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition, I have over 23 years of service in the Chicago Police Department (CPD). For ten years, I conducted gang and narcotic investigations, where I authored and executed hundreds of search warrants on gang members as a result of the long-term investigations. I have been assigned to the CPD Forensic Services Unit for the past ten years, investigating and processing several crime scenes ranging from homicides to burglaries. I am a certified crime scene investigator (CSI) via the International Association for Association (IAI), a worldwide certifying board for CSIs. In addition, I am an Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) certified law enforcement instructor with instructional expertise in training crime scene investigators. In my current role, I revise the existing curriculum, create new lesson plans, and publish training manuals to enhance training for active and newly promoted CPD crime scene investigators.
