Kayla Freemon is an Assistant Professor in the Criminology Department at DePaul University. She received her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Arizona State University, an M.S. in Justice, Law, and Criminology from American University, and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Freemon's research lies broadly at the intersection between policy, practice, and research focused on program and policy evaluation, violence prevention, jail experiences, and crime and justice in the Caribbean. She is currently engaged in work that explores justice-system accountability in the policing and corrections fields. Some of her published work has appeared in Crime & Delinquency, Preventative Medicine Reports, International Criminal Justice Review, and Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice. She previously worked as an International Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guyana.
