Gary Cestaro is Associate Professor of Italian in the Department of Modern Languages and was founding Director of the LGBTQ Studies Program at DePaul. He is the author of
Dante and the Grammar of the Nursing Body (University of Notre Dame Press, 2003) and editor of the collection
Queer Italia: Same-Sex Desire in Italian Literature and Film (Palgrave Macmillan/St. Martin’s, 2004), for which he also translated many of the essays. Prof. Cestaro regularly teaches the Italian 321 translation course. He served for several years as English translator of the Italian publication
PeaceReporter, an international online journal dedicated to global peace and social justice. He also worked as translator for the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. He is currently working on a book entitled
Dante’s Queer Genealogies.
