A double-demon, Rubén has been involved in DePaul's community engagement efforts as a student, staff, and adjunct faculty for the last twenty-one years locally, nationally, and internationally. Rubén currently serves as the Associate Director for Just DePaul, an institution-wide initiative hosted in The Division of Mission and Ministry to advance the agenda of social and environmental justice so central to our mission. Rubén and his better half, Cristina Salgado CSH ‘07, reside on the southwest side along with their three children Lluvia, Luna and Sol. In his free time, Rubén enjoys biking, running, yoga, and perfecting the art of pancakes in honor of his paternal grandfather, Ignacio "Nacho" Alvarez.
