Professor Martínez also enjoys teaching in the First Year Program, Catholic Studies, and the Peace, Social Justice and Conflict Resolution Program and has led a service learning trip to El Salvador. She has published articles on the Paraguayan author Augusto Roa Bastos, travel narratives to Guatemala, the ethnographic memoir by Cuban American writer Ruth Behar, reality television, and crime novels. Her articles have appeared in Ciberletras: Journal of Literary Criticism and Culture, Brújula: Revista interdisciplinaria sobre estudios latinoamericanos, Meridians, Studies in Latin American Popular Culture, and the Journal of Interdisciplinary Feminist Thought.
