Dr. Rich Schultz was formerly an Associate Research Scientist at the Illinois State Geological Survey Prairie Research Institute and serves on the Illinois GIS Association (ILGISA) board of directors as Past-President. Dr. Schultz teaches GIS at DePaul and has previously taught GIS, spatial analysis, remote sensing, earth science, geology, meteorology, oceanography, GIS, and intercultural studies at various colleges and universities including Elmhurst University and has presented on these topics at local, national, and international conferences totaling over ninety publications and presentations. Prior to his academic career, he worked in the private sector for over eight years in the environmental consulting industry. Dr. Schultz's research interests include online teaching and learning, use of drones for various applications, and spatial data visualization. He also teaches drones at a community college and is an FAA Part 107 licensed remote pilot, member of the FAA Safety Team (FAAS Team) and serves as a Drone Pro for the FAA. Dr. Schultz was the recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award from the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE) and received the “GIS Service Award” for geospatial education service to the Illinois GIS Association (ILGISA) and was the inaugural recipient of the Richard Hilton Collaboration Award from ILGISA.
