The Interdisciplinary Self-Designed Program is an innovative, flexible and highly individualized graduate program designed to meet students' academic and professional goals. The program gives students the opportunity to design a program of study tailored to their own needs and interests.

A creative alternative to traditional, discipline-specific programs

When students choose this program, they take on the exciting challenge of creating their own curriculum and unique plan for learning. Creating an individualized program requires maturity, self-motivation, and independence. Students seeking a combination of flexible options and academic challenges are natural candidates. Students can build their particular academic or professional interests and concentrate on specialized fields that are not available in traditional graduate programs.

Three Degree Options; One Program

The previously separate Interdisciplinary Studies MA and MS programs and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program merged to create the Interdisciplinary Self-Designed Program. This partnership allows for even greater possibilities in interdisciplinary graduate studies for working adults.

This program is a combination of the Interdisciplinary Studies Master of Arts or Master of Science and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. Depending on the coursework taken in their self-designed program, students graduate with either an MA or MS in Interdisciplinary Studies or an MA in Liberal Studies. Learn about the differences.
