pplications for fellowships are reviewed once a year in early January.
CWCIT is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 academic year. The deadline to apply is January 1, 2023.

DePaul University's academic year usually starts in early September after Labor Day and ends in early June. The duration of the fellowship is flexible—up to four months—depending on the availability of the scholar.

CWCIT provides travel expenses to and from Chicago and a monthly stipend, as well as office space, equipment, supplies, administrative support, and library access. The stipend is generous and is more than enough to cover the cost of housing and other living expenses in Chicago.
Eligibility Requirements
  • A doctoral degree
  • Research focused on some aspect of Catholicism in the "global South"—Asia, Africa, Latin America
  • Professional proficiency in English (written & spoken)

Strong preference is given to scholars based in the global South who generally do not have the same access to research resources as do scholars based in the global North.
