DePaul’s undergraduate program in Applied Diplomacy embraces both traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field. Guided by a richly interdisciplinary faculty, undergraduate students learn how the work of 21st century diplomacy is informed by multiple voices and perspectives, gain a firm intellectual understanding of the field, and apply those lessons to the concrete work of building bridges across boundaries of difference. The insights of both scholars and practitioners allow students to powerfully engage real-world challenges posed by social and political factionalization and conflict, as well as competing interpretations of individual responsibility, civic duty and national identity.

Regardless of concentration, a wide variety of internships, community-based courses, and study abroad programs will deepen students’ understanding of the practice of diplomacy, and build the experience and networks necessary to make a difference.
