Call for Art: Inaugural ART Alumni Exhibition Spring 2020 at DePaul University, Submissions due 3/30/2020
The faculty and staff of The Art School in the College of Liberal Art & Social Sciences at DePaul University, cordially invite you to submit 1-2 artworks to be considered for inclusion in an upcoming exhibition of alumni from our program. This event will be the inaugural exhibit of the new Richardson Art Gallery, located at 2350 N. Kenmore, and the reception will coincide with the official announcement of our name change from the Department of Art, Media, and Design to The Art School. Submitted works will be juried by a panel of our faculty and the exhibition will run from April 22 to June 14, 2020, with the opening reception scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Richardson Art Gallery.
Eligibility Criteria
- All artists who have graduated from DePaul, majoring in one of our department's art programs, are eligible to submit work for consideration. Note: Our name has been the Department of Art, Media, and Design since 2008. Prior to 2008, we were known as the Department of Art and Art History.
- Works must be initiated post-graduation from DePaul and have been completed within the last 5 years.
- No works may exceed 40" in any dimension.
- Artists must drop off work for the exhibition and plan for pick up afterwards. Additional details below.
Submissions
- Submissions are via https://depaulamd.slideroom.com/#/permalink/program/54110 and must be entered by 11:59pm on Monday, March 30, 2020.
- All files submitted must be under 5MB in size. Preferred file formats are:
- Image: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .tif, .tiff, .bmp, .tga
- Video: .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .wmv, .flv, .asf, .mpeg, .mpg, .mkv
- Audio: .mp3, .wma, .ogg, .flac
- Document: .pdf
- Linked Media: Vimeo, YouTube, SoundCloud, Sketchfab
- Submissions must include an artist statement (500 words), your degree program and year of DePaul graduation.
- Dimensions (height, width, depth) and media of each submitted work must be included.
- By submitting works to this exhibition call, applicants are agreeing to the terms and dates.
- The faculty will review only complete applications.
Terms and Dates
- The approximate date for artist acceptance notification via email is Friday, April 3, 2020.
- Images of accepted works may be used for University promotional and marketing purposes.
- Selected work must be delivered to The Art School, 1150 W. Fullerton Avenue, 3rd floor suite #312, Chicago IL, 60614, by Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Deliveries will only be accepted Monday – Friday from 9:30AM-4:30PM.
- Delivered work must be ready for display; framed and glazed (where appropriate) with any necessary hardware attached. Work should be delivered with appropriate packaging for short transport across campus.
- Each work must be labeled with artist and title on the back/underside.
- Delivered work which differs significantly from the entry image or which is not ready for display may not be exhibited.
- Exhibition will open Wednesday, April 22, 2020, with an Opening Reception scheduled from 2:00-4:00pm. Opening remarks are scheduled for 2:15pm. A second reception is tentatively planned for Saturday, April 25, 2020 in conjunction with the spring Admissions Visit Day.
- Exhibition closes at 5:00pm on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Work will be professionally de-installed, re-wrapped, and transported back to 1150 Fullerton, 3rd floor.
- Work must be picked up in-person June 17-19, 2020 (9:30AM-4:30PM) at the 1150 W. Fullerton Ave. address given above. Works not picked up by Monday, June 29, 2020 will be discarded.

Two Honoraria/Purchase Prizes of $750.00 each will be awarded to begin building an Alumni Art Collection in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Advising Center. In addition, an Honorarium of $100.00 will be awarded to each artist whose work is accepted.
