The Department of History of Art and Architecture currently houses the largest and academically most diverse art history faculty in Chicago among institutions without PhD programs.
Faculty members are devoted to the success of our students through teaching undergraduates and assisting them with their academic programs, and through advising and mentoring students beyond the classroom. All student majors are assigned an adviser within the department, after first meeting with the department chair and being welcomed into the program.
The department encourages student-faculty interaction outside the classroom with programs like the Annual History of Art Student Symposium and the Annual History of Art Career Day.
