Izabela Kantor was awarded the American Institute of Polish Culture's Harriet Irsay Scholarship for her extensive work advocating for and supporting the Polish diaspora in Chicago. Her translation work helps immigrants with their legal cases/citizenship/green card applications. Izabela also works for the Polish American Association, a nonprofit that provides over 28 bilingual programs/services to Polish immigrants and others in need. Izabela was the secretary of the DePaul Polish Student Alliance at DePaul. In that role, she helped Polish-American undergraduate students (many of whom are first-generation college students like she is) navigate higher education. For 3 years, Izabela petitioned the Modern Language Department to recognize the Polish language and develop it as a new language minor. As of this academic year, DePaul offers students the opportunity to minor in Polish.
