Arabic language, literature and culture are more important than ever on the global stage. DePaul’s flexible master’s in Arabic provides a customizable curriculum to help you develop advanced linguistic and cultural expertise.
The program may be completed in two years. Core courses are offered in the evenings, while most elective courses are offered in the afternoon/evening.
As a master’s in Arabic student, you’ll complete a service-learning requirement at one of Chicago’s cultural organizations, like the Center for Arabic Language and Culture and the Chicago Cultural Alliance.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, though we encourage you to submit materials at least two months prior to the quarter in which you wish to enroll.
Submit an online application, language proficiency test scores, letters of recommendation, letters of application, and complete an interview with a faculty member in our Arabic program.
You’ll take three core courses and nine electives taught in either Arabic or English.
of Modern Language graduates were employed, continuing their education or pursuing other goals within six months of graduation.
The median salary for Modern Language graduates was $50,000.
Study Arabic short stories with Associate Professor and Arabic Program Director Nesreen Akhtarkhavari, whose translations of Arab prison literature, and original works of fiction, shed light on the humanitarian issues facing the Arab world.
