Catholicism is a complex reality; its tradition includes rituals, doctrines, artistic and architectural achievements, and much more. Hence, a thorough understanding requires the use of all DePaul University resources and years of study.
The department has its own tenured and tenure-track faculty and also draws on affiliated faculty from throughout the university to teach Catholic Studies courses: artists, economists, historians, literary critics, musicians, political scientists, and sociologists as well as philosophers and theologians.
The department offers a major and minor, and offers a broad array of courses within the liberal studies curriculum so that all DePaul students can discover the rich heritage of Catholic intellectual thought.
