Financial Aid & Scholarships

​​​​​​​​​​The School of Public Service, DePaul University and other outside sources can provide financial aid assistance to eligible students. Each tab below contains information about opportunities for scholarships, assistantships, waivers, fellowships or grants that may be available, as well as current tuition rates.

School of Public Service Scholarships

Several quarterly scholarships are available to students in the School of Public Service. Application deadlines for scholarships vary from term to term. Admitted students with a Campus Connect login may refer to the DePaul scholarship applicati​on tool, Scholarship Connect for more information and appropriate forms. Please note these awards are NOT renewable and applicants must reapply every application period in order to be considered for the scholarships.

  • Dr. Dominic G. & Helen T. Parisi Scholarship: DePaul University School of Public Service founder, Dominic Parisi, PhD, insisted that people working in nonprofit and government should be educated together because the two sectors are so interdependent. The School believes his dictum makes even more sense today, over 50 years later. By taking core courses together, students gain a practical understanding of each sector’s challenges and objectives—an understanding that serves them well in the real world where collaboration leads to positive results. Any student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher is eligible to apply. Graduate assistants are not eligible to apply. 

  • Michella McMaster Endowed Scholarship: Awarded to a current graduate student the School of Public Service. Students must be in good academic standing and exhibit financial need. Graduate assistants are not eligible to apply. 

  • Molly Jean Hartman Memorial Endowed Award: Consideration for this award shall be given to students who are participating in one of the School of Public Service's study abroad opportunities during that quarter. Students must be in good academic standing and exhibit financial need.

  • School of Public Service Travel Scholarship: Awarded to outstanding graduate students traveling with a School of Public Service program during the quarter, including Study Abroad. Academic merit and financial need will be considered.
  • Vincent de Paul Ministry of Service Endowed Scholarship: Providing recognition and financial assistance to new or current students working or volunteering in Public Service programs within a religious organization. Students must be in good academic standing and exhibit financial need. Graduate assistants are not eligible to apply. 
  • Dr. H. Woods Bowman Endowed Award: Consideration for this award will be given to graduate students in the School for Public Service who are in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need.

Graduate Assistantships

SPS offers a limited number of graduate assistantships each year. Applications open in May or June for the following academic year (September through June). Graduate assistants work 20 hours per week in the SPS office from Autumn through Spring quarter. Work assignments vary from faculty research projects to administrative duties. In return, they receive tuition credit for 24 credit hours (6 cours​es) and a small monthly stipend.

Peace Corps Coverdell Fellowship

Please note: Some of our awards cannot be used in conjunction with any other tuition-restricted university discounts, scholarships, assistantships, waivers or grants. Please refer to the scholarship application for which you are applying for further detail or contact the School of Public Service for clarification (pubserv@depaul.edu).

School of Public Service Graduate Award

DePaul offers a tuition award to all new graduate students who are starting a School of Public Service master's degree program. The amount of $500 per course for the duration of the program will be credited each quarter to the student's account. The maximum total value of the award is $6,500. ​ Students must be continuously enrolled to remain eligible.  The DePaul Graduate Award cannot be used in conjunc​​tion with any other DePaul awards. Double Demon Scholarship​​​
Alumni from any of DePaul's colleges who are admitted into SPS automatically receive​ the Double Demon Scholarship. This scholarship covers 25 percent of the tuition for a master's degree or a select certificate program. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible. No scholarship application is required. The Double Demon Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other DePaul awards.
