The Department of Political Science offers a Bachelor of Arts degree program. With over 600 majors, it is one of the largest programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The department offers both day and evening courses, primarily at the Lincoln Park campus.

The department, university, and city offer many opportunities for students to become engaged in the community and develop their organizational, communication and leadership skills. Students can participate in the Pre-law Association, Mock Trial teams, Model United Nations, the Pi Sigma Alpha national honor society, College Republicans, DePaul Democrats, and other student organizations. They can find a wide variety of volunteer or internship opportunities in non-governmental or governmental organizations.

The program includes courses in political behavior and culture, political institutions, political theory, comparative politics, international relations, and public law. It is designed to introduce students to questions, perspectives, and arguments about the political forces that shape our lives. The curriculum has practical applications in legal, business, communications, public service, and academic sectors.

The courses provide students with training in a broad range of skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, ethical judgment, and inter-cultural communication. Such skills enable political science graduates to be successful in getting jobs or continuing their education in graduate or law school.
