​Wayne Steger is professor of Political Science and Distinguished Honors Faculty at DePaul University.  Most of his research focuses on campaigns and electoral competition, presidential nominations and elections, and the American presidency.  His books include A Citizen's Guide to Presidential Nominations: The Competition for Leadership, and Campaigns and Political Marketing.  His current work focuses on the socio-cultural, economic and political forces that have contributed to the rise of left- and right-wing populist sentiment in America.  This work is in the forthcoming book, Resurgence of American Populism: Socio-Economic Change and Political Discontent, (under contract with Routledge Press).  His secondary research analyzes the macro-economics of federal fiscal policy.  He is working on a book Dynamics of Fiscal Policy:  Theories and Evidence.​
