Admission Requirements

The MS-IPS program is designed for young and mid-level career professionals and students with a background in development studies, international studies, foreign languages, sociology, anthropology, political science, public policy or other general and specialized undergraduate majors relevant to a career in international development and global policy analysis.

The reviews of the applications carefully consider the candidate’s academic background, career perspectives, international experience and interests, language capacity and other professional experiences.

To apply, please submit the following:

  • A completed DePaul online application
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended
  • A two-page professional statement describing your educational and career goals in relation to international public service. You should also highlight your relevant international and intercultural work or volunteer experience. Please clarify any special circumstances affecting past or prospective academic performance
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae

Application credentials (including official electronic transcripts) also can be emailed to The Office of Graduate Admission at gradtranscripts@depaul.edu. Unofficial transcripts can be submitted for the application review. Official transcripts will be required upon admission. Please make sure your name is on all documents.

Students educated outside of the United States where English is not the official native language must present evidence of English proficiency. A minimum TOEFL score of 96 (ibt), or a minimum 7.0 on the IELTS, or a 125 on the Duolingo may be submitted for this requirement.

International students (those who were educated outside of the U.S. and/or require an F1 visa) must take additional steps to be considered for admission. Please visit the International Admission page for exact information.

Current students may visit Campus Connect for current course information. Prospective students may log on as a guest. Once on Campus Connect please select Course Descriptions followed by the department.
